Death Troopers

This week’s review is brought to you by the newest member of the ZPOC Officer Core, Jay.   Jay will be helping out by reviewing the different types of zombie media out there. Once you are done, come on by the forum and let everybody know what you think of the review, good, bad, or indifferent. And don’t forget to say hello to Jay.

Entertainment:   Educational:

For my first review I chose to review a book that incorporates two really cool ideas, STAR WARS and Zombies. Brought to you in a Galaxy, Far, Far away… by Joe Schreiber.

As far as entertainment goes, hey, its Star Wars. Enough said! I loved the fact that it is set a year or so before the events of “A New Hope”. Our favourite Correlian smuggler even makes an appearance with his Wookie counterpart.
The story starts on an Imperial Prison Barge where our heroes and villains find themselves adrift in space in need of parts to reach their destination. Low and behold, a Star Destroyer is found floating dead in space with little trace of lifeforms on board. Our heroes decide to make a trek over to the Star Destroyer in search of the parts they need. What they find is stormtroopers with an insatiable appetite for human flesh. I remember one scene where people are crawling overhead as the flesh eaters are down below them wishing that they would fall. You can almost picture them drooling as they reach up, moaning as the heroes shimmy their way to safety.

The educational factor of this book is pretty much nil since it takes place, once again, in a galaxy far far away. But as I said at the beginning it is Star Wars! Check this book out if you are both a zombie and Star Wars fan, I’m sure you will get a kick out of it.
